Doula Services

In addition to offering lactation education and services I am also offer affordable and flexable Postpartum Doula Services.  Early in 2011 I attended a DONA International postpartum Doula training and I have since been offering Postpartum Doula Services throughout Jefferson and Nelson Counties.  I have expierence working with one to four child families as well as families with multiples.  If you are one of most women who think a little childcare education, respite care, night care, or simply a little "opinion-free" help around the house would make the joy of a new baby truly joyful, lets talk about Postpartum Doula Services.

What use a Doula?

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.

A Postpartum Doula
  • Offers education, companionship and nonjudgmental support during the postpartum fourth trimester
  • Assists with newborn care, family adjustment, meal preparation and light household tidying
  • Offers evidence-based information on infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, infant soothing and coping skills for new parents and makes appropriate referrals when necessary

All DONA Doula information is provided by the DONA International website
